Speech

This term we were learning to write our speech's for the speech competition. The hard part was thinking of a topic to write but in the end I ended up writing about fighting. The easy part was writing my 5 paragraphs on the topic. If I was to change something about my speech it would be to change some words to make the speech more interesting. The interesting part about my speech is how much people go to hospital each year. Why did I decide to write about fighting? I chose to write about fighting because women get : Hurt, abused or maybe even seriously injured.

The phobia

So for the past 1 week my class has been writing our narrative story's about s/he that has turned into and cat or a dog. On our orientation we have to introduce our charter and the scene. For my charters I have chosen a boy, a dog, a mum and a mum's friend. I chose the phobia for my title because someone in the story  has a break down and screams like a girl. The easy part about writing this piece was coming up with story lines like s/he screamed like a girl or I was awoken by big bright lights. The hard part was to make my story imaginary and come to life. The way I feel about my writing is hard to say, I like my writing but it isn't the best of my ability. My goal for next time is to use more higher level words than ( Wen't, Going, Get, The and all of the low level words. ) The way I can improve is to get a dictionary or a thesaurus and pull out some bigger, higher level words.

The phobia

The phobia

This week we have been learning to write an narrative orientation on a boy that turns into a dog for a day. In the writing you have to have an orientation and introduce the character to your story and then begin with an problem in the middle you want a problem arising  and at the end the way s/he solves the problem. The easy part was to think of the problem. The hard part was to make  it sound more interesting. My next step will  is to make it come to life.

Mood Haiku

Today I was writing a mood haiku for what I was feeling at the moment. In a haiku there are rules like you can only use three sentences and a amount of syllables. In the first sentence you only use 5 syllables the next line 7 and the last line 5.  Here is my haiku.

5 I am feeling now
7 is a lot of emotions
5 for my past nana

Get Writing New Zealand 2019

Last week we have been learning to write a metaphor using the object we got. This week we have been writing the metaphors on the postcard that we have made up from the object. The object that I got was a ship in a bottle.  Here is my metaphor that I mad up from my object.

Dear bear

This week we have been learning about the solar system and how it works. My teacher showed us a movie about the astronomer sun and how the boys father turned into a comit. When the boy got older he went to this lab thing and turned himself into a comit so he can be with his dad. So our task was to wright a letter to the bear saying why he left and the instruction for operating the machine.

My art work

Last week our teacher whaea Cara was reading us a story about theses kiwi's and so their were koru's in the background and that was our task to draw a koru of our family. The challenging part was finding a koru that has the right amount of spirals that represents my siblings and my parents. The part I enjoyed was coloring in the koru because I got to use an election of crayons. what  I learnt was how to draw of cool koru without putting the paper on the screen and  drawing over it. The thing I would change about my art would be the color choice because the colors were ugly and those colors were red, orange and yellow.

Review

Today we had to make our end of year review it was cool because we got to choose our own photos. We had to make our end of year review I did mine around Whakaiti-respect, Mana motuhake and Manawaroa. The hard part was finding 20 different photos. The easy part was putting them onto kizoa. The thing I will do next time is make sure I double check on my video for mistakes. Gratitude list

Today we have to write 5 things about what we are grateful for about from the morning we woke up to now.

Christmas tree

On Wednesday we made some Christmas trees for our Christmas float.

materials:

• Popsicle stick
• 3 paper cupcake case
• glue
• tape
• pompoms
• ribbon

method

• Fetch your materials.
• capture all of your 3 cup cakes case and fold till they look like there a triangle.
• Also you got to then glue the triangles to the stick.
• Then glue the pompoms on.
• also tape your string to the top of your tree.

Athletics day

On Tuesday we had our athletics day. We had all kinds of activities like hurdles,  long jump, high jump, shot put, discus and sack racing. when the day started the yr 7 and 8's started at hurdles I got 6 seconds. On the day we had to learn how to show the school values and how to show great sportsmen ship because there were also junior's watching us. when it got closer to the end of the day we did our house chant's and then sat in our houses. When athletics day finished I looked back and I thought of the best activities and that activity that was my favorite was doing long jump. My least favorite one was doing high jump because I don't know how to jump in scissors position. The easy part was having fun and collaborating with everyone. The hard part was dealing with my saw foot. I think my next step is to really try and practices scissors jumping. Any ways here are some photos of the day.

 

hanga waka

I have been learning how to build a waka there are so many ways my favorite way is using plastic bottles. The hard part of making my boat was making sure I had the rite design and if I had all my materials.The easy part was building the boat but It was a struggle finding my equipment. The thing I will do next time we do this I will be organised the week before we do it. Anyway the boat I have design is made out of plastic bottles and sticks

Te rau pou manawa

On Saturday 17 of November my school Kawakawa primary school kapa haka group went to perform at  Maranga Mai E Te iwi regionals they were incredible they came 3rd for intermediate and 4th to go to nationals. My favorite part was the haka and poi because it's very cool. The only thing they needed to work on was to have fun and enjoy it because they looked bored because they had no pukana in them. Hanga waka

This week we have been learning about how a boat sinks and floats.
We have been learning about buoyancy and density because after we learn these we can design and build our boats so we can examine if they will sink or not. here's pic of what my boat will look like.

My Holiday

Movie

On one warm morning I received my clothes and got ready. When I finished snatching my clothes I went to the kitchen  to grab me some nutra grains, When I finished that I exit the kitchen to go get my sister ready. Later on I ran to the bathroom to groom myself like brush my hair, brush my teeth and wash my face. Then when everyone was finished getting ready we all jumped into the car then left.

1 or 2 hours after we left the house we arrived at the movies. 10 minutes later we departed from the car to the counter so my dad can book a ticket for me to watch the movie venom. while we were waiting for the movie to start we shot off to the gas station. 1 hour later the movie started and my dad just finished paying money for a ice cream, pop corn and a drink.

20 minutes later the adds had finished and the movie started. As the lights went down I filled up with excitement as the movie went on it became funny. There were a few parts of the movie that was boring but beside that it was really cool. 2 or 3 hours later the movie finished and I quickly zoomed out of the movies then jumped in the car. After I got in the car we left whangarei  to go home.

Project island

Today I made a video of project island. The easy part was making the video. The hard part was finding videos and photos to put in my movie. I did this to show what it was like on the island and how fun it was. here's a link to my video please watch it a relax well it plays.

FUN RUN

Last week our school all went to the fun run at united Kawakawa rugby club. I was so nervous I had more goosebumps than I usually have when I'm nervous how ever It was such a blast. I had came 8th in my race I was running with the 10 year olds because I was 10 at the begin of the year. What happen is we got called out our ages and we all had to line up we had to wait until Matau boden said go he said go and we ran off. How did we get there we had to catch the train there and back. Why did we go we had to go because it was a competition . We always used to call it cross country but now it is called fun run because we do fun obstacle courses like the cargo nets and going under noddles. The last thing I will tell you is that we also had color powder the colors where pink, blue, purple, yellow and green. Here are some photos.

Auckland

On Thursday I went to Auckland with my cousin and my Nana. On Thursday we stayed at my other 2 nana's and my cousin. Then on Friday we went to go see my uncle, Mele and little suacefina. Me and my mum picked out some clothes for her as a present. The reason why I was in Auckland was because there was an assembly. On sunday I stayed home and then me and my cousin caught a bus to st lukes mall. We went to go watch a movie it's called crazy rich Asians in v-max. V-MAX stands for big screen, big chairs and big sound. But we didn't finish it to the end cause we had to go and catch the bus. When we got we left again to go see my aunty, uncle and cousin. Then on monday morning we left Auckland and went straight home. That was the end of our trip and now im back in school. NO SCHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL.

Project Island Song

This week we were learning about the trip we are going. The island is called project island song.   When we go on the island we are going to be called a floating class. Me and my friend Eva worked on a D.l.O.   D.L.O is short for a digital learning object.

REPORT WRITING

Last week and this week we were writing a report writing of a awa animal and a normal animal. I wrote about a Freshwater Crayfish and a Crocodile because I thought they were easy to write about and they were. Here's a fact about the Freshwater Crayfish and a Crocodile.

Crocodiles 

When crocodiles attack humans or animals they take them under water to suffocate them then they spin around once. Then that means there ready to rip your arm off

Freshwater Crayfish

The freshwater Crayfish is found in the North island and Melbourne, Nelson and the West coast.
