Managing the enviroment

Managing the enviroment is the topic we have been learning for the past 4 or 5 weeks. In this video I recorded myself covering the following topic/concepts: Resources, Enviroment and Sustainabillity. I also included my resource research report for to listen to.

Papatuanuku animation

For the past week I have been working on my papatuanuku animation that is made to represent my Papatuanuku poem but  since my poem is 3 paragraphs long I only made the animaton on the first paragraph.

Genetic disease

For the past three weeks I have been working on a genetic disease to present in front of my class and the disease I spoke about was Adrenoleukkodystrophy of ALD for short. The disease I spoke is special in some way to me because and couple of my cousins come from a long line of people with this disease and just like their cousins they got it as well but luckily for them they have lived past the life expectancy. The hardest part was collecting information and adding it to a slide but the easiest part for me was when I presented in front of the class, even though I was nervous I feel like I did a good job after all.

Papatuanuku

Today I made a start on my Social Studies works and the topic for this term is Mananging the Enviroment. The first project I did was about Papatuanuku (Mother Earth) which was really easy to the point where I had to compose a poem about Papatuanuku but I did get it done and I think it was pretty good. The easiest part about this project was when I was answering all the question which was, Why is Papatuānuku important? What is her purpose? How can we take care of her? What are you going to do to show your appreciation towards Papatuānuku? I know I answered them resonable and responsible because I put my whole brain into thinkg about ways we can help Papatuanuku and what she really is about. The hardest part about this project was composing a poem straight from the heart because I'm not the rhyming type of person but I pulled myself together and composed a poem I am pretty proud of and here it is.

PAPATUANUKU

Our Solar system provides 8 planets

Out of 8 planets theres 1

That 1 planet is earth

On earth lays Papatuanuku

On Papatuanuku lays plants

Within those plants lay fruits and vegetables

Those fruits and veggies get picked

From being picked us humans eat them

And the cycle goes around again

On earth lays Papatuanuku

On Papatuanuku lay trees

Those trees grow big

Once fully grown they get chopped down

Once chopped they are made to be purchased

Once purchased they are turned into houses

And those houses are used for us to live in

And the cycle begins again

On earth lays Papatuanuku

On Papatuanuku lay humans

Us humans destroy her

while some try to heal her

We live we die

We run we walk

We do everything besides care

We don’t care about what's being thrown away

We don’t care about what’s being destroyed

Because all we do is “destroy”

Earth is now plummeting into destruction

And all we have to do is let the cycle continue

Something I would deffinitly do different next time is to believe in myself because it took some real time to compose that poem to the point where I almost went to the internet to copy one. One promise I will make is to change the way I treat our earth and thats final.

Pohi

Kia ora ko Havahna toku ingoa, no te kura o pewhairangi ahau. Mo aku pukapuka panui me panui pukapuka noa au me whakautu etahi paatai. Mena e hiahia ana ahau ki te whakarereke i tetahi mea mo nga kaupapa e rua ka taapirihia e au aku korero a -waha ka kowhiri i tetahi pukapuka uaua ki te panui

Tirohia ki taku whakaaturanga, kei etahi tauira hei whakarekei i toku pakihi.

Kei roto taku whakaaturanga ko nga mahi kua oti e au i roto nga wiki kua pahure. I waihanga ahau tetahi pakihi kakahu natemea e rata pai ana ahau ki nga momo kakahu pera ki nga kakahu kua hanga e au. Send it challenge

Today in Science we made a catapulte to launch a pingpong ball to see who would win the challenge. Doing this activity tested my creativity skills so much I almost gave up but me and my team pushed through the hard part and got it done even though we probably got the least furtherest out of all the other teams. The hard part was creating the catapult because we had a few trials and errors and it was hard to make a catapult with the materials that was given to us which was ice block sticks, rubber bands, a cup, a spoon and paper clips. The easy part was testing the launcher before the challenge because we had a few laughs, laughing at how far ours went. If I was to change something I would change the design and idea of our catapult to send the ball further.
